Letter from the Project Director, Aldo Velasco:
"My name is Aldo Velasco, the director of the documentary on the Faraja School for Disabled Children.
The goal of the documentary is to increase awareness of this incredible institution – one of the few of its kind in Africa -- and help it raise badly-needed funds.
We’ll be shooting for six to ten days, filming the lives of these inspiring children who must struggle with their disabilities in a country with no ramps, wheelchair accessibility, or any accommodation for the disabled.
The Faraja School Documentary Project is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to both contribute to the school and to learn about documentary filmmaking in a breathtaking setting: between Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt.
Meru, near the big game parks of the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and the Serengeti.
The volunteers will help with sound recording, assisting the cinematographer, and working with me to organize the whole operation. Don’t think that it will be easy! Making a documentary film can be surprisingly exhausting work. But I guarantee that it will be a profoundly rewarding experience."
